The U.S. Forest Service is offering a comprehensive, three-day Basic Chainsaw Training from June 9th to June 11th, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM each day. This hands-on course is designed for individuals looking to develop fundamental chainsaw operation skills for trail maintenance, forest management, and conservation projects. Participants will learn essential safety protocols, proper cutting techniques, saw maintenance, and best practices for working in backcountry environments. Led by experienced Forest Service instructors, this training will provide both classroom instruction and practical field experience. Due to the intensive nature of the course, participation is limited to six people. Time: 8am – 4:30pm each day
Where: Leadville Ranger Station – 810 Front St., with some field work
Clothes: Closed-toe sturdy shoes, long pants, long-sleeve shirt, and a hat plus extra clothes to be comfortable for the day’s weather
Bring: Work gloves, sunscreen, water, lunch and snacks
